Little Lilibet Diana Mounbatten-Windsor, 1, the daughter of Prince Harry, 38, and Meghan Markle, 41, has been baptized. The Sussex’s second daughter received the sacrament in an intimate ceremony in California.

The news of Lili’s christening was revealed this week, but it was learned that the ceremony took place on March 3 without the presence of her paternal grandfather or Prince William or Kate Middleton.

A person close to the couple revealed to People magazine that Lili had already received the sacrament of baptism.

“I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3, by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor,” said the source consulted.

Meghan studied at a Catholic school but has decided with Prince Harry that Lili will be baptized in the Anglican faith so that she does not lose her place in the line of succession. Lilibet ranks seventh in the line of succession to the throne behind her brother, her father, her cousins, and the Prince of Wales.

One of the most striking details is that the close person revealed that both Charles III and Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales were invited to the christening of the little girl, but declined to attend.

At the ceremony, the songs ‘Oh Happy Day’ and ‘This Little Light of Mine’ were played and it took place in the house that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bought in the exclusive location of Montecito, in Santa Barbara.

The christening was attended by between 20 and 30 guests, including the actress’ mother, Doria Ragland, as well as Tyler Perry, Lilibet’s godfather. The actor himself told in the documentary that the Sussex made for Netflix that he had been offered to be the godfather of the little girl.

It is unknown who Lilibet’s godmother is, since the Sussexes have not wanted to provide that information, just as they refused to reveal the identity of Archie’s godparents, causing a great stir.

What is known is that “Lili” has not worn the replica of the christening gown worn by Queen Victoria’s first son in 1841, which for decades has been used with the youngest members of the royal family.
