King Charles and Queen Camilla continue their first official tour of Germany. The royal couple has been received with great honors and has fulfilled a series of official duties ranging from the state banquet at the Bellevue Palace in Berlin to their various visits to points of interest in the city, such as the Wittenbergplatz farmers’ market or the Brandenburg Gate, where they were received by President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender.
One of the greatest moments for the current monarch was his visit to the parliament. King Charles delivered a historic speech and became the first British sovereign to address the German Parliament.

The 74-year-old king’s speech was one of the most talked about. The father of William and Harry made a speech that was warmly applauded by the Bundestag. In his speech he intercalated English and German, being the first British King to do so.
The King mentioned the goals for the union between the UK and Germany. He also referred to the painful situation in Ukraine and of course did not fail to mention the first visit of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II to the country in 1965.
“Countless lives have been destroyed. Freedom and human dignity were brutally trampled on. The security of Europe is under threat, as are our democratic values. But the world has not stood idly by. We are shocked by the terrible destruction. But we can draw from our unity — in defense of Ukraine, peace and freedom,” he said in German.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, I can hardly begin to express the pride I feel in the strength of the partnership between our two countries. Germany, her people and distinctive culture have made such a profound impact on me over so many of my previous visits. Since I first came to Germany when I was just 13 years old, I have grown to become familiar with the different corners of this remarkable land,” he continued in English.
“Like many British people, I have close personal ties here — in my case, cherished family relationships and associations that go back generations. For all of us, however, there are countless points of connection and common experience in the British-German story, which has unfolded over nearly two millennia” was part of what Carlos said.
The speech received a standing ovation from all present.

How many languages does King Charles speak
The Daily Express reports that Charles III has learned several languages. The monarch has been heard speaking Welsh, which he learned for academic purposes:
He speaks Welsh, can engage in fluent conversation in French and as he demonstrated on his trip can also speak German.
Charles also knows Gaelic, a language spoken in parts of Ireland and Scotland.
