A recent poll conducted by the Mail on Sunday has brought to light a significant sentiment among the British public regarding Prince Harry’s place in the line of succession.

The poll, which took the pulse of 1,504 respondents, reveals that more than half of Britons – a substantial 52% – believe Prince Harry should be excluded from the line of succession, ensuring that he never ascends to the throne.

The poll results provide a nuanced picture of public sentiment, reflecting both concerns about Prince Harry’s role and the current direction of the monarchy.

The Duke of Sussex currently ranks fifth in the line of succession to the throne, preceded by Princes William, George, Charlotte, and Louis. However, the poll indicates that the majority of respondents favor the idea of removing Harry from this sequence.

Interestingly, while 27% oppose the idea of Prince Harry being removed from the line of succession, 21%, expressed no opinion on the matter. This indicates the complexity and sensitivity of the issue, as well as the variety of perspectives of the British population.

In addition, the survey probed public opinion on Prince Harry’s titles and those held by him, Meghan, and their children.

More than half of the respondents believe that the couple and their children should be stripped of their titles.

Currently, Prince Harry and Meghan hold the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex, while their children, Archie and Lilibet, hold the titles of Prince and Princess.

Sentiment around Prince Harry’s titles and his place in the line of succession has been amplified by recent events, such as the removal of his and Meghan’s HRH honors from the Royal Palace website.

This action underscores the couple’s separation from the Royal Family, a decision they made in 2020.

    Prince William vs. Prince Harry

If we compare the public’s perception of Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, the survey results reveal a stark contrast.

While Prince Harry’s popularity has declined since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William appears to be better received by voters.

More than 75% of respondents approved of William and Kate’s performance in their new roles as Prince and Princess of Wales.

In addition, William garnered significant support as the royal best positioned to secure the future of the Commonwealth, suggesting a sense of confidence in his abilities.
