King Felipe of Spain, 55, underwent surgery on his left hand after suffering an injury.

Although he has been seen wearing a bandage since the first week of October, the royal house reported at the time that it was a minor injury.

According to journalist Mariángel Alcázar, the father of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía suffers from tendinitis, an inflammation of the tendon, which is a common joint injury.

A few weeks later, the King reappeared with a bandage at the Princess of Asturias Awards.

Spanish media reported that he had undergone surgery. During the awards ceremony, the King wore a black splint, but it was learned that he had to change it for a more rigid one after the surgery on his left hand.

The King’s injury was reportedly sustained while playing paddle tennis, a sport of which he is also a fan.

During an informal meeting with journalists at the cocktail party following the Princess of Asturias Awards, it was confirmed that King Felipe had undergone surgery to improve his injury and prevent future complications in his hand.

The operation is routine and does not require hospitalization and does not put the health of the Spanish monarch at risk.
