A major controversy has recently arisen over the mysterious disappearance of an opinion piece about Kate Middleton published in the British Mirror.

The article, which originally criticized the Princess of Wales, was later edited to refer instead to Prince Harry, which has led to speculation about possible censorship or editorial error.

What happened to the edited Mirror article?

The original article, published Wednesday night with the headline “Kate Middleton ‘your best friend one minute and worst enemy the next,’ expert claims,” quoted a royal family expert who compared Kate’s “extreme mood swings” to those of the late Princess Diana.

However, only 11 hours later the article was updated, replacing Kate Middleton’s name with Prince Harry’s in the headline and body of the text.

The media outlet claimed that it was a “mistake” to have initially put Kate’s name in place of Harry’s, but many find it implausible that it took 11 hours to notice such an error in an article about the popular Kate Middleton.

This has fueled speculation about possible censorship or pressure from the royals to protect Kate Middleton’s image while she is recovering in hospital.

It would not be the first time that content about the royal family mysteriously disappeared from the British press, so the incident is evidence of the influence that the monarchy still exerts over certain media, and the tacit pact to protect the public image of its members.
