    Letizia Ortiz By Robert Marquez

The Carrera y Carrera tiara: A wedding present that Queen Letizia has kept hidden for 20 years. Why?

The Carrera y Carrera tiara: A wedding present that Queen Letizia has kept hidden for 20 years.

Queen Letizia has a great value tiara in her personal jewelry box that she received as a wedding gift but has not been seen wearing it publicly for more than two decades.

It is the Carrera y Carrera tiara, a gift that the legendary Spanish jewelry store gave to Felipe VI’s wife, and the queen has not found the opportunity to wear it.

Queen Letizia’s Carrera y Carrera tiara

The Carrera y Carrera tiara has an approximate value of 15 thousand dollars and was a present that Letizia Ortiz received in 2004 from this prestigious jewelry store before marrying Felipe de Borbón.

The idea was that she could exhibit this piece at the most important royal events.

However, sources close to Zarzuela have confirmed that the tiara remains stored in the vault of the palace since “there has been no opportunity” for the Queen to wear it publicly.

It is a rather discreet tiara, with curved lines. It has a floral design within the classics that Carrera y Carrera made at the time.

At the top, there is a half row of brilliant-cut diamonds and, culminating, five pearls in a golden tone.

This is made in matte gold, or satin, which is opaque gold, without luster and its value lies in the metal, as the pearls and diamonds are small.

This beautiful piece would not be the only jewel that Queen Letizia has not been seen in any act.

    Niarchos Tiara

The Niarchos tiara, an elegant tiara of marquise and baguette-cut diamonds that Queen Sofia got as a wedding gift in 1962 from Greek tycoon Stavros Niarchos, has also never been exhibited by Letizia.

Queen Letizia’s decision not to wear this jewel has unleashed all kinds of speculation among experts and royal admirers about the reasons behind this absence.

Some voices point to a personal decision by Letizia not to wear it, favoring other pieces from the royal collection.

But others believe that there is a certain resentment of Queen Sofia towards her daughter-in-law, which would prevent her from accessing this valuable tiara that remains the property of the emeritus.

Whatever the reason, what is certain is that the future of the Niarchos tiara is unknown as is the Carrera y Carrera tiara.

Perhaps one day Queen Letizia will finally decide to wear it for the first time, thus putting an end to the mystery surrounding these two stories that mix royalty and jewelry.
