As King Charles III navigates his health recovery journey, significant changes have been observed in his daily routine and eating habits.

Under the nurturing influence of Queen Camilla, the monarch has embraced a revamped lifestyle.

King Charles III publicly announced his cancer diagnosis after undergoing a medical procedure to treat an enlarged prostate in late January.

On Jan. 26, the monarch enters the London Clinic to undergo his prostate procedure.

“The King was this morning admitted to a London hospital for scheduled treatment. His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week and is delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness,” was the statement from Buckingham Palace.

Three days later, Charles was discharged. Buckingham Palace issued a statement informing that upcoming public engagements had been rescheduled to allow him to recover.

A week after Charles was discharged from hospital, Buckingham Palace announced that the monarch had been diagnosed with cancer.

From that moment on, the King was advised to postpone his public-facing duties while he underwent treatment, but that he could continue to undertake the affairs of state.

“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.

His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.

The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.

His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer,” was the statement from Buckingham Palace.

Since then, his wife, Queen Camilla, has been supporting the monarch for his speedy recovery.

King Charles’ eating habits after cancer diagnosis

For decades, King Charles was known for his unwavering work ethic, often skipping lunch to cram more tasks into his busy schedule.

However, in light of his recent health challenges and the wise guidance of Queen Camilla, the monarch has made a remarkable shift.

According to Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith, Queen Camilla has been instrumental in encouraging the King to break his lifelong habit of skipping meals, particularly lunch.

As Smith shared in her newsletter Royal Extra:

“Queen Camilla has been doing double duty, representing the King at engagements around Britain and tending to his comfort at home. Not unlike Queen Mary, she keeps a close watch on her husband and knows how to hold the line when necessary.”

This nurturing approach has proven invaluable in facilitating positive changes in the King’s routine.

Julian Payne, the King’s former press secretary, shed light on the monarch’s previous habit, stating:

“The King doesn’t eat lunch; so, an early lesson I learnt when out on the road with him was to have a big breakfast or bring a few snack bars with you to keep you going.”

However, this practice has now been replaced by a more balanced approach, as the King embraces the benefits of a midday meal.

    Eco-conscious nutrition

King Charles, known for his environmental advocacy, has long been mindful of minimizing the carbon footprint of his diet.

In a 2021 interview with the BBC, he revealed that he primarily follows a plant-based diet during the week, avoiding meat, fish, and dairy products on certain days.

This eco-conscious approach aligns with his commitment to sustainable living and serves as an inspiration for others to adopt more environmentally friendly dietary habits.
