When royal couples get together, the world of royalty takes on a unique splendor.

Such was the case at the gala dinner held recently at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam, honoring the King and Queen of Spain, Felipe and Queen Letizia.

Amid this event of great elegance, the eyes of all those present fell on Queen Letizia, whose attire dazzled the attendees.

The gala dinner took place on Wednesday night with the presence of the royal couples of the Netherlands and Spain, as well as other royals, such as Princess Amalia, Princess Beatrix, and Princess Margaret.

Letizia chose a new ball gown in cobalt blue, with a box collar, Japanese sleeves, and bow details on the cuffs, designed by the firm The 2nd Skin.

The Queen returned to trust in the designers Juan Carlos Fernández and Antonio Burillo, who had already made a dress for the Princess of Asturias Awards 2021.

As for the jewelry, Letizia wore the imposing Russian tiara, a jewel with a fascinating history.

Originally created for Queen Regent Maria Christina of Austria, the tiara is made of platinum, pearls, and diamonds, and has been inherited by several generations of Spanish royalty.

The tiara is inspired by traditional Russian headdresses, the kokoshnik, hence it is known as the Russian tiara.

In addition, the Queen wore a brooch that is part of the “lot of passing jewels”, those that have been passed down from queen to queen.

It is a brooch with a pale gray pearl surrounded by brilliants, which belonged to Infanta Isabella and which Victoria Eugenia herself described in her will as “a brooch with a large pale gray pearl surrounded by brilliants and from which hangs a pear-shaped pearl.”

The earrings that Letizia chose to complete her outfit are also part of this legacy of royal jewelry.

They belonged to Queen Victoria Eugenia and, later, to the Infanta Cristina, who wore them on her wedding day.

They are earrings formed by a central brilliant and other small diamonds that surround it and have become one of the favorites of Queen Letizia.

Letizia’s elegance and refinement, enhanced by these dazzling jewels, captivated those present on a night that will undoubtedly remain engraved in the memory of Dutch and Spanish royalty.
