The current year has brought significant challenges for several European royal families, marking a period of health concerns for their members.

In January, Princess of Wales Kate Middleton underwent abdominal surgery and subsequently announced her cancer diagnosis.

Similarly, King Charles also underwent prostate surgery and revealed that he has cancer, although no specific details have been released about the type of cancer they both face.

Attention has recently shifted to the Spanish royal family as Queen Emeritus Sofia has been released from hospital after being admitted with a serious infection.

It has also been reported that Miguel Urdangarin, King Felipe’s nephew, has undergone surgery.

These events underscore a particularly difficult year for Europe’s monarchies and highlight the vulnerability of human health, regardless of title or status.

What are Miguel Urdangarin’s health problems?

Miguel Urdangarin underwent surgery at the same time as his grandmother, Sofia, was hospitalized.

On March 24, Miguel, 21, was in the media spotlight when he had an accident while skiing in Switzerland, resulting in a serious injury that required surgery.

After nearly four months of training, Miguel injured his right knee while skiing down a difficult slope.

This incident occurred while the Infanta Cristina was in Latin America, forcing her to rush back and cancel her Easter plans, including a trip to Abu Dhabi with her father Juan Carlos, sister Elena, nephew Felipe Juan Froilan and other family members.

Recently operated on, Miguel now faces a six-month rehabilitation period before completing his ski instructor training and beginning post-graduate studies.

Although details are scarce, it is reported that the operation was successful and that Miguel is in good spirits.

At the moment, the Spanish press reports that the young man is in his country after finishing his degree in marine biology in the United Kingdom.

The young man has returned home where he is recovering from the surgery.

Known for his discretion, like his siblings, he maintains a close and solid relationship with them.

Last summer, Miguel completed his studies in marine sciences at the University of Southampton, in the south of England, after graduating from the prestigious Ecolint school in Geneva.

His interest in the natural environment and his dedication to the study of the oceans have been fundamental to his education.
