Infanta Sofia, daughter of monarchs Felipe and Letizia, did not want to miss one of the most spectacular natural phenomena.
Over the last weekend, due to an intense solar geomagnetic storm, Northern Lights have been observed in unusual parts of Europe, at much lower latitudes than normal.
The Northern Lights result from the interaction between solar wind and Earth’s magnetic field. While not the first time reported in Europe, their appearance remains a rare event.
Infanta Sofia in Wales
In Wales, this stunning phenomenon has inspired many, including the students at Infanta Sofia’s school, to enjoy this rare spectacle. The Northern Lights have also been seen from Wales in recent days.
Atlantic College students seized the opportunity to witness this outdoor phenomenon, typically only visible in specific areas like the North Pole.
Revealed through social media posts from accounts associated with Infanta Sofia’s school, she, along with many classmates, ventured onto the castle grounds where their school is located to witness the magnificent light show offered by the aurora borealis.
This event is not only a visual wonder but also an educational opportunity to better understand the complex natural processes occurring in the atmosphere.
This weekend, Atlantic College students enjoyed not just an outdoor plan but a variety of activities.
According to an Instagram account dedicated to the sisters, first-year students joined the second-years in camping and games, making the most of the days before the latter conclude their educational cycle in Wales.
The second-year students are about to finish their classes and say goodbye to their academic stage.
Meanwhile, Infanta Sofia, still in her first year, continues her studies and prepares to return home to enjoy the summer with her family.
