May ends with the opening of one of Madrid’s most special events: the Book Fair.

For a few weeks, Retiro Park becomes a gathering place for the best writers in the country, a time when they connect with readers and literature blooms among the trees of this iconic location.

This year marks the 83rd edition of the fair.

Queen Letizia arrived via Paseo Fernán Núñez, right by booth 119, accompanied by notable political figures like the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, and others from the cultural sector. She walked along the path lined with hundreds of booths showcasing various booksellers.

Each year, Queen Letizia, an avid reader, visits the fair on the first day to support booksellers who strive to maintain stores that sell knowledge and culture, something undervalued by many but cherished by others.

Despite the recent heatwave in Madrid, the weather was milder today, making the visit more pleasant.

This event often sees the Queen in stylish summer outfits that make headlines, and today was no exception.

Recently, Queen Letizia has had to give up wearing heels due to a foot problem, so it was no surprise that she opted for her Barefoot shoes to visit the bookstalls.

She chose a casual look to combine with these ergonomic shoes, with a white suit jacket and pants made of linen straight cut that contrasted with a blouse with brocade hem in a vibrant green color.

Her accessories included simple Gold & Roses earrings, her favorite jewelry brand, and her signature ring.

Her earrings, the “Jardín de aire” model from Gold & Roses, are described on the brand’s website as, “Green is in the plants; water droplets resemble diamonds, and warmth comes from the skin and the color contrast that enhances the white and green harmony of the collection. It creates a micro-landscape that suggests and inspires, transporting us to a garden of jewels through details: the outline of a leaf, the color of a flower, the verticality, the light of the image.” They are made of rose gold, diamonds, and emeralds.

The outfit was simple yet elegant, fitting her recent style choices.

This year’s outfit was different from previous years, reflecting her current needs.

The Queen enjoyed the comfort provided by her foot-friendly shoes, British-made Vivobarefoot, which are known for their minimalist design and global popularity due to their comfort.
