Queen Maxima’s Radical Style Change: From a Pink Dress to a Military Uniform

The royal agenda always imposes a strict protocol, and Maxima of the Netherlands proves it with each of her carefully selected looks for her official engagements.

This week, the Queen of the Netherlands dazzled in two completely different outfits, each tailored to the nature of the event she attended.

On Wednesday, Maxima traveled to the town of Ermelo, in the province of Güeldre, for the inauguration of the new building of the Emmaus College.

This school offers specialized secondary education to some 150 students between the ages of twelve and twenty, who receive extra care.

For this occasion, the Queen chose a pink dress by the Belgian firm Natan, which she has worn on several occasions since 2018.

This design stands out for its flared sleeves that extend from the elbow to the wrist, a round neckline and a length that reaches just above the knees.

Complementing her look, Maxima opted for nude pumps with vinyl details and a large raffia pamela created by Fabienne Delvigne.

As for her jewelry, she wore earrings in the shape of sunbeams adorned with stones of various colors, a diamond ring with a central emerald stone and a colorful bracelet, a gift from the students of the Emmaus School.

This bracelet is similar in style to those that Taylor Swift’s fans, known as “swifties,” often exchange at concerts on the Eras Tour.

The next day, Queen Maxima radically changed her wardrobe to attend a military event at the Engineer Regiment, a specialized unit of the Dutch armed forces.

During this visit, the Queen received an explanation of the tasks of the engineers, who are in charge of clearing obstacles and building military infrastructure such as bridges and ferries.

Maxima participated in an exploration to clear an area and observed the construction of a pontoon crossing over a river.

For this activity, she left aside her elegant dress and pamela, and opted for a proper military uniform.

She wore a camouflage jacket with the Netherlands coat of arms on the left sleeve, along with a matching T-shirt and pants, and camel-colored boots.

Mindful of the physical demands of the day, she decided to forgo most of her jewelry, wearing only her watch and a string bracelet.

Next week, Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander will receive the Emir of Qatar, who will pay an official visit to the Netherlands.
