Leonor of Borbón By Robert Marquez

Princess Leonor Skips Her Diet on Her First Night Out in Pontevedra

Only a week into her training at the Naval Academy in Marin, Princess Leonor, 18, seems to have enthusiastically adapted to her new life in Galicia.

Although the routine of the Navy is strict and demands a lot of physical and mental effort, the eldest daughter of the King and Queen has found moments to enjoy the company of her new fellow midshipmen, exploring her surroundings and participating in typical activities of the region.

Recently, Leonor was seen strolling around the port of Meira, in Moraña, together with some of her companions, on a day of leisure aimed at getting to know the surroundings of her new temporary home.

As tradition dictates among the students of Marin, the first stop was at the Tapería Bocatería D’Elvi, a popular place where they tasted squid, omelette and croquettes, as reported by ‘El Faro de Vigo’.

The night did not end there for the young princess and her group of friends. Dressed in a casual and youthful style, consisting of a white top and jeans, Leonor was integrated and participative during her night out. In fact, the evening lasted until 5 a.m., proof that the princess is making the most of her free time to socialize.

In the wee hours of the morning, before returning to the academy, the group made a brief stop at a 24-hour store in downtown Pontevedra to buy something to eat. And what did the princess choose?

According to an employee of the establishment who spoke to the Spanish Radio Network, Cope, Leonor opted for a kind of panini, a toast with tomato, oregano, melted cheese and bacon, an option that resembles a pizza, but made with regular bread.

This choice was a surprise, as it is a departure from the healthy eating she is used to at home, but it also shows that the young woman is not afraid to indulge herself from time to time.

Since leaving the Zarzuela Palace, Leonor has had the opportunity to experiment with different gastronomic options. Although she has been raised with an upbringing based on healthy eating and sports, she is no stranger to enjoying more indulgent dishes.

This is not the first time she has been seen enjoying more casual meals; last year she celebrated her birthday at a hamburger joint in Zaragoza.

At the Naval Academy in Marin, the diet follows a strict and balanced regime: buffet breakfasts with fruit, eggs and cereals; lunches with a closed menu served at the table, and buffet dinners with meat or fish as the main course.

This information comes after it became known that there is some concern among the commanders of the academy about the physical state in which Leonor arrived at the Naval Academy.

This concern stems from the first sporting events in which the princess participated upon her arrival, where her team won first place in inter-brigade competitions, although her movements evidenced a certain lack of physical preparation.

    Leonor’s strict security

However, not everything is fun. Leonor’s presence in these places brings with it a security protocol that can be uncomfortable both for her and for those around her.

Before she could enter the 24-hour venue, a group of escorts thoroughly inspected the establishment, as part of the usual security measures to protect the heir to the throne.

This situation, according to Miguel, an employee of the establishment, can be annoying, as it does not allow the princess’s companions to move freely.

Despite these restrictions, Leonor and her friends enjoyed their meal at the doors of the establishment, which attracted the attention of some onlookers. However, the escorts quickly intervened to prevent photos or videos of the group from being taken.
