The controversy continues after the scandal generated by the publication of photographs of King Juan Carlos with Bárbara Rey, whom the media identified as one of the lovers of the father of the current King Felipe VI.
This week, the Spanish press published a story that has once again placed the emeritus monarch at the center of criticism.
The images, published by the Dutch magazine ‘Privé’, show Juan Carlos kissing and in compromising attitudes with Rey, a well-known Spanish actress.
Faced with the dissemination of these photographs, both protagonists showed clear surprise.

First of all, it was Bárbara Rey who reacted publicly. According to several Spanish media, the actress spoke out on different television programs, expressing her state of shock when she found out about the publication through television.
She indicated that she will take legal action to investigate how these images reached the magazine, stressing that it is about her private life and that she has not authorized the sale of these photographs.
It is speculated that the images were taken and delivered to the Dutch publication by Bárbara Rey’s son.
Apparently, the relationship between Bárbara and her son is not going through its best moment, which aggravates the situation generated by the dissemination of these images and adds tension to their already troubled family ties.
For his part, King Juan Carlos also responded to this new scandal. From his close circle, his opinion on the publication of these images, which have come to light 30 years later, was made known.
A source revealed on a television program that the former king is shocked by the situation, surprised that it has proceeded to disseminate images taken in a private space.
“He is the victim of a hunt. The dispute between Bárbara and Ángel (Barbara’s son) is not taken into account; the ultimate target is Juan Carlos,” commented journalist Silvia Taulés.
Taulés added that this event has upset the joy that the king had recovered after overcoming various problems.
“He was happy because he had found his place, and now he is facing a complicated love tangle that he thought he had left behind,” she concluded.
