Spain’s royal family meets again on one of its most significant dates: the Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony.
This Friday, October 25, the big award ceremony will take place, but before that, King Felipe and Queen Letizia, accompanied by their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, attended the previous reception with the nominees.
The royal family arrived punctually and with great expectation to welcome this year’s award winners. This event has become a major occasion for the Crown, and for the first time, the Princess of Asturias becomes the royal protagonist of the award ceremony.
Details of the Princess of Asturias Awards Reception
Leonor continues to advance in her duties, especially now that she has come of age. Although the date is solemn, the freshness and naturalness that characterize the royal family lately were evident.
Both Letizia and her daughters, Leonor and Sofia, did not hesitate to break protocol a bit during the ceremony, reflecting that times and traditions are constantly evolving.
After greeting the guests and authorities, the royal family received the awardees one by one. Princess Leonor was the first to present the pin to each recipient, followed by the King, Queen, and Infanta Sofia.
Everything went smoothly until one of the most awaited guests arrived: the famous Spanish singer-songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat.
As he greeted the royal family, the smiles were contagious and the connection with the artist was palpable. There were even moments of spontaneous affection that broke with protocol.
Letizia showed her excitement at being close to one of her favorite artists, giving two kisses to Serrat, while the singer-songwriter exchanged cordialities with everyone, including Infanta Sofia.
Since Sofia moved to Wales, the occasions when the two sisters can be together have been very limited.
For her part, Leonor is fulfilling her duties at the Naval School in Marin, growing into her role as heiress and beginning to take a more active role in the Crown’s activities.
The connection between Sofia and Leonor is more than evident. Sharing confidences, the cameras captured funny moments as they whispered things in each other’s ears during the reception.
The surprised expression on Sofia’s face revealed that there is always something interesting to tell. The queen, attentive, followed her daughters’ every move, trying to decipher their secrets.
One of the most surprising moments of the evening occurred when, in the middle of the reception, the royal family decided to change positions.
Initially, King Felipe led the group, but when the award winners arrived, Leonor confidently took the lead, ready to welcome them and present the commemorative pin. This gesture was a clear indicator that the heir to the throne is increasingly assuming her role.
