King Charles is currently on a tour of Australia and Samoa, despite his battle with cancer.
Now 75, the monarch was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year after undergoing surgery for an enlarged prostate.
Although Buckingham Palace has not specified the type of cancer he faces, it has confirmed that treatment has been interrupted while the king makes his first trip to Oceania since ascending the throne.
Well, King Charles’ health has been the subject of much interest, and his stepson, Tom Parker Bowles, has shared some words on how the monarch is currently feeling.
What Tom Parker Bowles said about King Charles
According to Parker Bowles, the king “is strong” in the face of this “terrifying illness.” In statements to People, he commented that the king is doing everything possible, despite interrupting his treatment to be able to carry out the tour of Australia and Samoa. Cancer is a worrisome disease, he confessed.
“It’s a terrifying disease, and when someone close to you gets it in whatever capacity, it’s a very worrying thing,” he said.
However, he also highlights the strength of his mother, Queen Camilla, who supports him at all times.
“But my mother is strong as well. She supports him in every way. I think it’s wonderful to have someone you love by your side.”
Parker Bowles also mentioned that Charles is following his doctors’ instructions, hoping that everything will get better.
In addition, he was proud of his mother, noting that, although many at her age would think of retirement, she never complains and just keeps going.
“He is doing what he can,” Parker Bowles continued. “He’s following the advice of his doctors. Fingers crossed, touch wood.”
Parker Bowles said Charles was “a magnificent king” and said of his mother: “I’m incredibly proud of her. She’s at an age when most people think of retiring, but she never complains; she just gets on with it.”
Fortunately, King Charles has been making progress in his health and, according to his doctors’ recommendations, he is fit to take on some royal duties.
The British monarch’s tour will end on Saturday, October 26, and it is expected that, after this intense trip, he will take a few days to rest.
