On Monday, January 20, 2025, Donald Trump officially took the reins as President of the United States.

The ceremony was quite an event, with presidents and dignitaries from around the world in attendance, although there was one notable absence: that of King Charles III.

However, that did not stop the British monarch from sending a strong message to the new president, the 47th in the history of the United States.

King Charles III, now 76, extended his congratulations to Trump on his inauguration.

In a private letter, he stressed how fundamental the ‘special relationship’ between the UK and the US is, a bond that has endured over the years, Buckingham Palace confirmed.

The swearing-in ceremony took place in the Capitol Rotunda, with Trump taking the oath alongside JD Vance, who assumed the position of vice president.

Although the exact content of the King’s message was not released, Buckingham Palace noted that it reflected the close and enduring relationship between the two countries.

As we have previously mentioned on RoyalFamily.news, Trump has a particular fondness for the British royal family.

He has praised the late Queen Elizabeth II and spoken positively of King Charles. In addition, he had a recent meeting with Prince William, where he also made clear his respect for the future king.

On the other hand, things are not so kind for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, whom Trump has openly criticized on more than one occasion.

While the British royal family is on friendly diplomatic terms with Trump, they can’t seem to say the same for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. No doubt, politics and royalty sometimes bring unexpected surprises.
