After a period of few public appearances due to her health condition, the Princess of Wales has begun to resume her official engagements.

This January 30, Kate Middleton traveled to Cardiff to visit the Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospital, a center specializing in palliative care for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses.

During her visit, she received special recognition: the British Royal Household named her godmother of the hospital, a role she takes on with great commitment.

The princess, who recently announced to be “in remission” after her battle with cancer, has once again demonstrated her closeness to charitable causes focused on children.

At Tŷ Hafan, Kate learned first-hand about the work of the medical team and shared moments with the children and their families.

The hospital’s mission is to make the lives of the little ones as full as possible, while providing emotional support to their loved ones during difficult times.

The news of her appointment as patron of the center was shared on the social networks of the British Royal Family with a message in which they expressed their enthusiasm: “A proud moment”.

Her work for child welfare has been consistent over the years, so her link to Tŷ Hafan seems a natural step.

Kate and her connection to Diana

The hospital has a special connection to the royal family, as in 1995 Princess Diana organized a benefit concert to raise funds that enabled its construction.

The facility opened in 1999 and has enjoyed royal backing ever since.

The center’s executive director, Irfon Ress, was thrilled with the new godmother and said he was honored that the Princess of Wales has become patron of Tŷ Hafan.

He also stressed that her presence will be a source of inspiration for the children, families and all those who are part of the hospital community.

With this commitment, Kate Middleton resumes her official schedule and reinforces her dedication to causes close to her heart.
