Does Princess Leonor Have a Private Cabin on the Elcano?

Princess Leonor continues her military training aboard the emblematic training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano, bound for Uruguay, after having enjoyed a short break in San Salvador de Bahía, Brazil.

As we have reported here at RoyalFamily.News, with this voyage, the heiress to the throne has completed one of the most demanding stages of her training, spending 22 days at sea without touching land.

This experience proved especially challenging for her, as she was not used to sailing in such rigorous conditions.

Since joining the Escuela Naval de Marín, Leonor has forged strong bonds with her shipmates, and has recently been linked to a 20-year-old from Madrid, from a well-to-do family, who is also part of the crew.

Princess Leonor’s alleged boyfriend is named Pedro Torán Carretero and they met in August, when she began her naval training.

Their complicity has been even more evident during the carnivals, where they shared relaxed moments.

Although some argue that their relationship is merely friendly, others speculate that something more may have arisen between them.

Despite her status as a princess, the Royal House has insisted that Leonor receive the same treatment as the rest of the midshipmen, being fully integrated into life on board.

She shares a dormitory with three female mates and uses the same common facilities, such as bathrooms and showers, following the daily routine of any cadet.

However, as in the Military Academy of Zaragoza and the Naval School of Marin, she has a private cabin where she can go at specific times, mainly to make private calls or hold personal meetings.

The Juan Sebastián Elcano, with its 113 meters in length, is one of the greatest jewels of the Spanish Navy and has become a symbol of the training of future officers.

Despite the technological advances incorporated in recent years, life on the ship is still demanding: the midshipmen sleep in bunks barely 70 centimeters wide, without individual beds, and must organize themselves in cramped spaces with small lockers for their belongings.

Toilet areas are also shared and separated by gender, maintaining a strict discipline of schedules.

In this environment of constant learning and coexistence, Princess Leonor has an exclusive space where she can take refuge when she needs privacy, although its use is limited.

Unlike her fellow cadets, she has access to satellite communication, which allows her to contact her parents if necessary, while the rest of the cadets must wait until they reach port to get a signal.

The experience aboard the training ship Elcano is allowing her to develop resilience, discipline and a strong team spirit, essential elements in her preparation as the future Queen of Spain.
