King Charles III and Queen Camilla landed in Ottawa to begin their first official visit to Canada as monarchs.
The stay, although brief, has a high symbolic value: it was organized to coincide with the opening of the new Parliament after the general election.

Upon arrival, they were greeted by an entourage that included the Mounted Police, members of the Armed Forces and the new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, accompanied by his wife, Diana Fox Carney.
Camilla opted for an outfit that did not go unnoticed, as she wore the pink Anna Valentine dress-coat that she wore at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
This time she paired it with Chanel shoes and the maple leaf brooch that belonged to Queen Elizabeth II, a diamond-studded jewel in the shape of the Canadian emblem symbolizing the monarchy’s historic link to the country.
The piece, a gift from King George VI in 1939, has been worn before by Princess Anne and Kate Middleton, although this was the first time Camilla wore it.
The day included simple but meaningful gestures. A local youth presented flowers to the Queen and both monarchs listened to the Eagle Island Singers, a group from the indigenous Kitigan Zibi community.
Prime Minister Carney used the occasion to share on social media that the visit is a reaffirmation of the ties between Canada and the Crown.
