Princess Leonor has arrived in Ferrol aboard the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano, on one of her last stops before completing her training as a midshipman.
The iconic brigantine schooner was greeted by a crowd of people who watched its arrival between castles with enthusiasm from the coasts of Ferrol and Mugardos.
This stop marks a symbolic moment in the heir to the throne’s journey within the Spanish Navy.
Leonor, 19, recently returned to the Elcano after completing a month of training on the frigate Blas de Lezo.
There, she participated in naval maneuvers and live-fire exercises, reinforcing her practical training.
During her time on the training ship, she has visited countries such as Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and the United States, expanding her training in international settings.
During its stay in Ferrol, which will last until Saturday, the crew will carry out training and routine activities typical of the naval environment.
An official reception is scheduled for Friday at the City Hall, which will be attended by local authorities, ship commanders, and representatives from different sectors of the city.
Although it has not been officially confirmed, Leonor is expected to participate in the event.
After this stopover, the ship will continue on to Marín. There, on July 16, the princess will receive her commission as an ensign from King Felipe VI, culminating her time in the Navy.
This will mark the beginning of a new stage at the General Air and Space Academy, thus completing her training in the three branches of the Spanish armed forces.
