Netflix ends its million-dollar deal with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex
Netflix has decided not to renew the exclusive $100 million contract it had with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since 2020.
The deal, signed shortly after the couple stepped down from their royal duties and settled in the United States, allowed them to explore their role as content producers.
Harry and Meghan Netflix deal canceled
The decision comes after the poor performance of Meghan’s most recent docuseries, With Love, Meghan, which barely reached 5.3 million views since its premiere on March 4.
The series ranked 383rd among the platform’s most-watched titles during the first half of 2025, a modest result compared to other original productions. In addition, the reviews were not kind: the project received a rating of 3.2 out of 10 on IMDB.
Although the exclusive partnership comes to an end this year, sources close to the couple say there are still new projects in the works for Harry and Meghan, who could sign a “first-look” deal with the platform.
For now, Netflix plans to release a second and final season of the cooking show produced by Markle.
Among the content developed under this agreement are the documentary Harry & Meghan (2022), Polo—focused on the Duke’s passion for the sport—and two more docuseries: Live to Lead, which features influential leaders, and Heart of Invictus, which followed athletes participating in the games founded by Harry.
Despite their efforts, many of these titles failed to achieve the expected reception, casting doubt on the real impact of the Sussexes’ time in the streaming industry.
