Meghan Markle has just faced a new blow with her most personal project on Netflix.
The second season of With Love, Meghan premiered on August 26, but, unlike the first installment, it failed to enter the platform’s top 10.
For many followers of the Duchess of Sussex, this absence from the list is already a clear sign that something is not working.
The program, which brings Meghan together with guests such as Chrissy Teigen, Tan France and Jay Shetty, seeks to show a close lifestyle, full of tips on hospitality and home hobbies. However, British critics were merciless from day one and described it as “tone-deaf,” “needy” and “self-indulgent.”
And the truth is that the figures back up that judgment. In its first week, the series did not reach the 2.1 million views that would have allowed it to enter the official Netflix ranking.
The comparison with the first season is inevitable. That one, despite also receiving harsh reviews, managed to debut in the top 10 with 2.6 million views in its first week.
This time, it didn’t even make it into the top 50 most-watched productions in the United States during the last days of August, according to the consulting firm Luminate.
Just 1.11 million views in two days made it clear that public interest had declined.
The funny thing is that this stumbling block comes just after Netflix renewed its agreement with the Sussexes, although under much less advantageous conditions than the initial ones.
For Meghan, who is still looking to consolidate her space in the entertainment industry, this setback raises uncomfortable questions: is her media image losing strength or does the format simply not connect with the public?
