Did you know that Leonor has not yet used one of her oldest princess titles? And I don’t mean Asturias or Girona.
In a matter of days, she will officially debut as Princess of Viana, a title with a history that dates back to the ancient Kingdom of Navarra.
It will be at the end of September when the daughter of the Kings visits the Autonomous Community and, for the first time, uses this name.
The trip will take her through Pamplona, Tudela, the monastery of Leyre and, of course, the municipality of Viana, which gives its name to this dignity.
A short route, from September 27 to 29, but with a lot of symbolic weight, because the last to use this title was Felipe himself, a decade ago.
The curious thing is that the title of Viana had been forgotten for years, until in 1998 the local council asked for it to be recovered. Since then, Felipe has used it again in his visits to Navarra and Leonor will do the same, adding this rank to the repertoire that she is gradually unfolding as heiress.
For her, it will be a break from her demanding military training at the Air Academy, where she has just started a course in an aviator uniform and with an air that the Spanish press has called: Top Gun.
This trip to Navarra will allow her to connect with a part of Spain’s history that, until now, had only been in the books.
