The arrival of Infanta Sofia in Lisbon is no longer a secret. The youngest daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia has started her university life in the Portuguese capital, where she will study the first year of Political Science and International Relations.
Another beginning that marks her departure from the family home and her first step towards a European academic experience that will later take her to Paris and Berlin.
The curious thing is that, unlike other occasions, the Royal House did not share official images of this start. No photos of the farewell in Zarzuela or of her first day on campus.
An absence that does not seem casual and that rather confirms the intention to shield Sofia’s privacy at this stage. Perhaps the idea is to let her live her day to day like any student.

But that’s not why she remained anonymous. Photos and videos of the welcome day were posted on her university’s social networks.
There she appears integrated with her classmates, participating with the naturalness of an 18-year-old girl who seeks to adapt to a new environment.
The Infanta Sofia will meet her parents and sister again in Spain at the end of October for the Princess of Asturias Awards.
