On October 12th, Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia once again took center stage during the celebration of Hispanic Day.
The young women of the Spanish royal family accompanied the King and Queen during the parade on Paseo de la Castellana and the subsequent reception at the Royal Palace, a day that symbolizes, more than any other, the union of the Crown with the people.
The family image was impeccable. Queen Letizia opted for a forest green dress – one of those shades that suits her particularly well – while Princess Sofia chose an elegant yet youthful black and white polka dot ensemble by Carolina Herrera.
Leonor, for her part, once again wore the Air Force uniform, just as her father, who wore the Navy’s dress uniform. Overall, a sober, coordinated and very institutional image, though with the freshness provided by the King and Queen’s daughters.
Inside the Palace, once the parade’s rigors had passed, a more relaxed atmosphere prevailed. King Felipe exchanged his uniform for a suit, and both he and Leonor wore the insignia of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
The two sisters stood side by side, exchanging smiles and a few brief words. Sofia, who had already attended such receptions for her sister’s 18th birthday, moved naturally, greeting and chatting with ease.
She appears to be increasingly comfortable in this public role, which, although secondary for now, she fulfills with ease.
The presence of the King and Queen’s two daughters brings a different energy to these events—one that is less solemn and more approachable. Watching them act so naturally confirms that the monarchy is successfully transitioning to a new generation with poise and confidence.
