During his recent trip to Rio de Janeiro, Prince William chose to pay an emotional tribute to his mother, Princess Diana.
At the top of Corcovado, facing the imposing Christ the Redeemer, he paused at the exact spot where Diana posed in 1991 during her visit to Brazil with Prince Charles.

What does this recreation of Diana symbolize?
William’s choice was not accidental. During the trip, he witnessed how deeply Diana’s memory remains alive among the people of Rio.

According to a Kensington Palace spokesperson, the prince was impressed by the number of people who fondly remember the Princess of Wales’s visit.

The recreated photo underscores the emotional connection the royal family continues to have with Brazil, even decades later.

Balancing tradition and environmental commitment
In addition to honoring Diana, William used his visit to promote the sustainability agenda associated with his Earthshot Prize.
He met with the 15 finalists of the award, who aim to improve the planet through their innovations. Among them was Adam Root, the creator of a filter that removes microplastics from water used in washing machines and industrial processes.

William promised to install these filters in the royal palaces and said, “An amazing idea.” We’ll pay full price!” he said, emphasizing his interest in supporting projects with a real impact.
The visit to Christ the Redeemer, which was closed to the public for 45 minutes for him, became a gesture that delighted both royal fans and us.
