On November 22nd, the El Pardo Palace will host a very special lunch for the Spanish royal family. According to Efe, King Emeritus Juan Carlos has confirmed his attendance at the event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the monarchy’s reinstatement.
Although he will not attend the official events the day before, such as the presentation of the Golden Fleece to Queen Sofia and other prominent figures, the emeritus has decided to join the family meal.

He will be accompanied by King Felipe and Queen Letizia, along with their daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, Queen Sofia Emerita, and Infantas Elena and Cristina with their children.
The event will follow a format similar to Leonor’s 18th birthday at El Pardo: King Juan Carlos will arrive on the same day and then return to Abu Dhabi, where he has resided for over five years. His personal and financial “exile” has not prevented him from holding these private meetings with his family.

The emeritus hesitated before accepting the invitation, particularly after not being included in the institutional events on November 21st at the Royal Palace and the Congress of Deputies.
However, the opportunity to spend time with his family has weighed more heavily, and it seems this lunch will serve to strengthen personal bonds, setting aside any institutional significance.

Meanwhile, Queen Sofia will remain the focus of official events, receiving the Golden Fleece from her son, Felipe VI.
