Spanish Royal Family Adjusts Its Communication Strategy to Protect Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia

The Spanish Royal Family is currently experiencing a period where discretion is once again setting the tone. Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia’s personal growth has prompted the Zarzuela Palace to adjust its communication strategy to avoid the impression of constant scrutiny.

The two sisters continue their studies like any young woman their age, though with much stricter protection than in previous stages, when every academic achievement ended up becoming public knowledge.

In Lisbon, where Sofia is pursuing a new educational endeavor, this cautious approach has been evident from day one. No photographs or videos of her routine have been released, and official information is limited to general details.

The decision reflects a desire for her to experience this stage of her life normally, away from cameras and the pressure that came with the family’s previous exposure.

The King and Queen have asked her to be especially careful on campus and in leisure areas to reduce the risk of unauthorized photos being taken.

The change also affected Leonor after she joined the General Air Force Academy. After a few initial images, the flow of information almost completely stopped, in contrast to the extensive coverage it received in Zaragoza and Marín.

Now, only the essential information remains, with occasional statements and formal mentions from the king. The intention is clear: to allow the heiress to continue her military training with the privacy necessary to assume her future role without media distractions.
