On Friday, February 20th, King Felipe and Queen Letizia welcomed Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the acting president of Portugal, to the Royal Palace for a luncheon attended by 90 guests. The event served as an official farewell before he steps down in less than a month.
The visit had been postponed twice, so when it finally happened, everyone hoped it would go well. And he left. Felipe welcomed him in the Patio de Armas, a meeting between delegations took place, and Letizia joined for lunch. The usual, but with a lot of protocol behind it.

Why Letizia’s green coat at the lunch with Portugal is a special piece
The Queen of Spain arrived wearing a familiar pine green coat, a wrap style with suede cuffs and waistband, and a flowing skirt. It’s a custom design by an unknown creator, but she cherishes it because she also owns a black version—she wore it to the funeral of Constantine of Greece.
The green version debuted in March 2022 at the Duke of Edinburgh’s thanksgiving service at Westminster Abbey, and reappeared months later during an official visit to Croatia. Since then, it had been kept, waiting for the right moment.

What shoes Letizia chose and what that says about her style priorities
She paired it with black Magrit pumps, featuring a low three-centimeter heel and a square toe. The low heel isn’t a mere aesthetic choice, but rather a concession to her foot ailments—a recurring theme in her recent footwear selections.

The new earrings Letizia wore for the first time at this event
The only new item she wore were the earrings. Button-style, in yellow gold, with an irregular and organic shape reminiscent of molten metal or an abstract flower. At the center, a small, set stone adds a subtle touch of light.
They are the kind of jewelry that complements rather than competes with the rest of the look. And of course, the Coreterno ring, which has become a permanent part of her image.
