How Queen Letizia Navigated Two Very Different Events in the Same Look

For years, the International Contemporary Art Fair (ARCO) has been one of those events where Queen Letizia allows herself some stylistic freedom.

Last year, it was the red leather jacket everyone remembers. This time, however, the agenda took precedence over the wardrobe.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia presided over the 45th edition of the International Contemporary Art Fair at IFEMA, but just hours later they attended a lunch at the Royal Palace with the Grand Dukes of Luxembourg, a strictly formal event. That explains why Letizia chose a look that worked in both contexts without needing to change.

She chose a forest green tweed dress with a square neckline, French sleeves, and a flared skirt, custom-made by the seamstresses at Zarzuela. She had debuted it in October at the Hispanic Day parade, and it was already one of the most talked-about looks of the year.

Bringing it back for ARCO is entirely fitting, as it’s a piece that combines presence and elegance without the rigidity of a formal suit, yet it also adheres to the protocol required for the subsequent lunch. Letizia knows exactly what she’s doing when she reuses a piece like this.

How Letizia paired the green dress and which jewels she chose to complete the look

The accessories followed the same logic as on the day of the premiere. All black contrasted with the green of the dress: buckled pumps, a small belt that defined the silhouette, and the Carolina Herrera Insignia bag.

As for jewelry, she brought back the emerald earrings from Tous, which matched the fabric’s tone, along with her usual Coreterno ring.

After exploring the galleries with clear curiosity, the king and queen headed to the Royal Palace, where they welcomed William V and Stéphanie of Luxembourg.

The ducal couple has chosen Spain as the first destination on their official tour, just five months after ascending to the throne.

The lunch was the central event of the state visit, providing an opportunity to strengthen ties between the two countries.
