Princess Leonor is in her third year of military training at the General Air and Space Academy in San Javier, and she appears in public infrequently because her schedule right now is essentially focused on her training. But every now and then, something about her life outside the academy leaks out, and I like those kinds of details a lot more than any official event.
A few days ago, the newspaper La Opinión de Murcia revealed that Princess Leonor of Asturias had made a short, low-key getaway to Pilar de la Horadada, a town south of Alicante just a 17-minute drive from the academy, with some friends.

What Princess Leonor did in Pilar de la Horadada
The plan was to eat at La Terrazita de Cristóbal, a popular steakhouse in the area with a chill-out terrace and a range of prices, from burgers for around €15 to cuts of meat for over €30.
As is usual in these situations, the restaurant received notification from her security detail just minutes before she arrived. First, the security team entered to check the premises, and then she arrived.

According to the restaurant, Leonor ordered a Coke and a hamburger and went unnoticed by the other diners. The establishment did not want to provide any further details. They only made it clear that they were delighted to have had her as a customer.
What Leonor was wearing
She took off her uniform and opted for a basic outfit that we’ve seen her wear before. A blue-striped sweater and jeans. That’s it. It’s exactly the kind of outfit you wear when you don’t want anyone to pay you any attention, and Leonor has a lot of practice at that.

What Leonor’s life is like outside the San Javier Academy
This outing is not an isolated incident. Earlier this year, it was already known that the princess frequents some pubs and nightclubs in the Murcia area with her friends, including the Bastilla nightclub. It also came to light that she travels to Madrid on certain weekends, and that she attended King Felipe’s birthday party in late January without anyone knowing about it until afterward.

With each of these details, it’s becoming clear that, despite all the military demands placed on her, Leonor is living a fairly normal life for someone her age—she still has time for a burger with friends on a regular day.
