Princess Amalia Returns to Amsterdam in a Recycled Mango Suit

Princess Amalia returned to Amsterdam, and that in itself is significant. The city where she had to leave her university life in 2023 due to threats from the mafia welcomed her this time in a very different context: a two-day official visit at the invitation of Mayor Femke Halsema, with an agenda packed with technology, sustainability, and nightlife.

For her first appearance, she chose a burgundy three-piece suit by Mango, the same ensemble she wore at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina. A complete, three-piece suit with an oversized silhouette and a flowing cut, with the tailored waistcoat peeking out under the blazer for that “working girl” look that works so well for her at official events.

She paired it with matching suede ankle boots, a Hermès handbag from her mother Máxima, and a generous amount of jewelry: a necklace with an inscription, large gold earrings, and several rings and bracelets.

The fact that Amalia chose Mango again is neither random nor coincidental. The year she lived in Madrid made her an avowed fan of Spanish brands, and her regular wardrobe already includes Mango, Zara, Massimo Dutti, Miphai, and Lady Pipa.

For an heir to the throne, choosing accessible fashion and wearing the same pieces repeatedly carries an implicit message that does not go unnoticed, especially when she does so at a high-profile event in her own country.

The day’s agenda kicked off with a private brunch at the mayor’s residence and continued with visits to the Lab42 technology center and the AMOLF laboratories, where she learned about solar cells and sustainable energy.

In the evening, she visited an organization that supports women in vulnerable situations and then went to two downtown nightclubs to experience the city’s music and entertainment scene.
