Harry and Meghan May Bring Archie and Lilibet to UK

If confirmed, this would be one of the most talked-about moments of the royal summer. According to reports from News.com.au and The Daily Telegraph, Harry and Meghan plan to travel to the United Kingdom in July, and this time they won’t be going alone. Seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet would join them, paving the way for a reunion with King Charles that hasn’t occurred since 2022.

The last time the king saw his grandchildren was during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, and for Lilibet, that was her only visit to the country. She was one year old, so she doesn’t remember anything.

The Sussexes’ trip to the United Kingdom

The official reason for the trip is different. Harry has promotional events tied to the 2027 Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham, and it’s time to kick off the public countdown. But bringing Meghan and the children completely changes the way the trip is viewed.

Royal commentator Afua Hagan told Newsweek: “The fact that both of them are coming… and bringing their children is another big deal. I think this really does open the door to a meeting with King Charles, because he would absolutely love to see his grandchildren.” And there’s one detail that underscores it all: security.

For years, Harry has stated that bringing his family to the UK was not safe without protection from the Metropolitan Police, which was withdrawn in 2020. The system that has been in place since then only provides him with protection when there is an official invitation from the palace. So, if he’s now willing to bring his children, that implies that such an invitation exists.

Hagan summed it up with a phrase that I think is perfect: “That’s not an olive branch, that’s an olive grove.” It’s not a small gesture. It’s a sign that something more formal is happening between Charles and Harry.

The thaw between Harry and Charles III

The process has been slow and discreet. In the summer of 2025, advisors from both sides met at the Royal Over-Seas League in London, and in September, Harry and Charles had tea at Clarence House, marking their first meeting since February 2024, when the king announced his cancer diagnosis.

If Meghan and the children could now have a warm meeting with the king, that would be a huge step forward. What remains to be seen is what role Prince William plays in all of this, as according to sources close to the family, he remains more inflexible than his father on the Sussex issue.
