Meghan Markle “loves” Kelly Clarkson and even voted for her during her winning 2002 run on American Idol, according to the duchess’ Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.
In a rare interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show on February 26, Spencer offered insight into her friendship with Meghan.
What did Abigail Spencer say about Meghan Markle?
Spencer told host Kelly Clarkson that he met Meghan in 2007 at an audition and they bonded over sharing the same birthday.
“I walk in I see this beautiful gorgeous creature at the end of the table and I’m like who is that?… We had an immediate something, you know,” she said.
Their friendship “really developed” when they were both cast on Suits years later.
Highlighting that they remain close, Spencer relayed a message from Meghan saying that she “loves” Clarkson and voted for her on American Idol.
“Meg says ‘hello’ and that she loves you and that she voted for you on American Idol,” Spencer said to the singer.
The interview provided a positive perspective on Meghan’s relationships with her former co-stars of Suits after recent reports suggested she no longer keeps in touch.
It has been said for some time that Meghan’s royal status had reshaped her connections with the cast of ‘Suits’ and that the bonds of friendship that once seemed unbreakable had been severed.
Several cast members, including Rick Hoffman, Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, Gina Torres, and Sarah Rafferty, have acknowledged a growing distance between them and Meghan.
But Abigail Spencer, who played Dana Scott on Suits, has remained a staunch friend to Meghan.
Spencer has described Meghan as a “safe harbor” and someone she can trust.
