Queen Camilla has left the London hospital where King Charles is recovering from surgery for a benign prostate problem, looking cheerful with a slight smile on her face.

The British royal, dressed in an elegant blue buttoned and belted suit, left the medical centre after accompanying her husband during his admission this morning.

Camilla is the first member of the British royal family to be seen after King Charles’ operation.

The King was admitted to The London Clinic, the same hospital where Kate Middleton is recovering from abdominal surgery, on Tuesday 16 January 2024.

As she left the hospital, the Queen walked to one of the vehicles waiting for her.

“He’s fine, thank you,” she said heading to her car, according to ITV’s Chris Ship.

Buckingham Palace confirmed today that King Charles had gone to hospital for a planned operation.

“The King was this morning admitted to a London hospital for scheduled treatment,” they said. “His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week and is delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness.”

The procedure the King underwent is common and minimally invasive, but does require extended bed rest.

Although he was originally expected to spend just one night in hospital, it is now estimated that he will need two nights, plus 10 to 14 days of convalescence at home, to make a full recovery.
