Pain and sadness. This is how the days at Clarence House, the home of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, have been colored. The Duchess of Cornwall has received a really sad news: the death of her cousin Charles Villiers.
The aristocrat was found dead in a room at the Durrants Hotel, located in the Marylebone district of London. One of the employees of the establishment gave the alarm after finding him lifeless.
What happened to Camilla Parker Bowles’ cousin?
According to The Times, the cousin of Camilla Parker Bowles, had a very difficult personal and economic situation for several years, the overwhelmed man found no way out and decided to take his own life.
Villiers, had been since 2014 facing a legal battle in the Scottish and English courts with his ex-wife, Emma Villiers, two years after their marriage broke up.
The separation threatened to drag on longer and Charles Villiers had a delicate financial situation, saw his bank account go into the red, affecting his mental health.
In 2015, his mansion in Milton House was repossessed, and it wasn’t until last year that the High Court ruled that he was so far in debt that he was exempt from paying alimony to his ex-wife. Emma, though, appealed the judge’s decision, further burdening the Duchess of Cornwall’s cousin.
The process was so long and exhausting that it ended up doing severe psychological damage to Charles, who, ruined and drowning in debt, was forced to ask some friends for help. He finally booked a room at the Durrants Hotel and took his own life. Charles Villiers died without his cause being resolved.
