In the midst of a personal recovery process that has moved the entire United Kingdom, Princess Kate has received a gesture that goes far beyond the symbolic.
It is a new variety of rose in peach and pink tones that bears her name: Catherine’s Rose.
But this floral tribute is not just a compliment to her person or her public role. There is a much more intimate cause behind it.
Catherine’s Rose
The flower was recently unveiled by Prince William and Kate on their social media. It’s beautiful, yes. But the important thing is that it will serve to raise funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, an organization that works to improve the lives of cancer patients.
This institution is no stranger to the history of the princess. It was there, near Kensington Palace, that she received part of her cancer treatment.
Kate publicly revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer in March 2024.
In a publication shared with her followers, she talked about her treatment and what the process has meant.
In her words: “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery”. She also thanked the medical team that has accompanied her along the way.
The tribute of the rose is also part of another part of her story. During the most difficult moments, she found relief in nature.
It is no accident that she speaks fondly of gardens as places of solace.
In a recent video, she mentioned how nature became a refuge to find calm amidst the noise of the world. For her, spending time outdoors has been a way to heal, not only the body, but also the soul.
“Spending time in nature has always been a source of comfort and strength,” the princes wrote on their official X account.
That is why this flower is not intended as a simple ornament. Catherine’s Rose blooms with a clear purpose: to continue to sow support where it is most needed.
Spending time in nature has always been a source of comfort and strength. Gardens and green spaces provide not only beauty and joy, but also vital support for our mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
