The British royal family has cherished the tradition of celebrating Christmas at their private residence in Norfolk for generations.
This year’s celebration was particularly poignant as both King Charles and Kate had been diagnosed with cancer over the past year.
Fans were relieved and happy to see the family continuing their cherished traditions despite these challenges.
The birthday message, posted on the official royal family’s Instagram Stories, read: “Happy Birthday to The Princess of Wales.”
King Charles and Princess Kate Cancer Update
Buckingham Palace had previously announced King Charles’s cancer diagnosis in February 2024, followed by Princess Kate revealing her own battle with cancer in March.
While the specific types of cancer remain private, it was shared that Kate completed her chemotherapy in September, and King Charles’s treatment will extend into the new year.
The palace had shared an optimistic update just before Christmas, indicating that the King’s treatment was progressing positively and would continue as a managed condition.
Kate made her first public appearance of the year during the traditional Christmas march to St. Mary Magdalene Church, walking alongside her husband, Prince William, and their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Looking ahead, Kate has not set specific expectations for her schedule, focusing on her health and well-being.
Kate has already made several public appearances, including attending the Remembrance events in November, hosting her fourth annual Together at Christmas carol service in December, and joining the Christmas celebrations at Sandringham.
