Lawyer Robin Rathmell, who legally represents businesswoman Corinna Larsen, says his client has been harassed for years by the king emeritus with the dissemination of false information about alleged illegal accounts.
Rathmell said in a statement that “false documentation” is circulating that links Larsen as controller of the financial structures of Juan Carlos I.
“These rumors have their origin in false documentation,” Rathmell said in the statement.
Information about the alleged financial structure would have been circulating for two years. According to the lawyer of the former mistress of the monarch, in 2019 it was proven in a Swiss court that the files that are allegedly being used had no factual basis.
The lawsuit about the harassment was registered in December 2020 but its content did not transcend until last July.
Corinna has assured that the king emeritus pressured her, with the help of the CNI, to return the 65 million euros that he had donated in 2012 and not to disseminate any compromising information about him or his patrimony.
The Spanish monarch has hired the law firm Clifford Chance, one of the most expensive in the world, to represent him before the Court of Appeal in London.
