Queen Camilla continues to honor the memory of Queen Elizabeth II, even more than a year after her passing.
On Wednesday, May 8, Camilla, along with King Charles III, hosted the first royal garden party of the year at Buckingham Palace.
Queen Camilla wears Elizabeth II Cullinan V Brooch
Few noticed that Camilla wore one of Elizabeth’s favorite brooches, the Cullinan V brooch, during the event.
This brooch, adorned with a heart-shaped gemstone, was originally owned by Queen Mary and later passed on to Elizabeth in 1953.
The Cullinan V brooch held significance for Elizabeth, who wore it on various special occasions, including Princess Eugenie’s wedding in 2018 and during London Fashion Week that same year.
Camilla’s attire for the garden party included the Cullinan V brooch along with other accessories.
She wore a white dress with thin black stripes, complemented by a black-and-white hat, pearl earrings, and a pearl necklace.
King Charles looked smart in a gray suit paired with a light blue vest and tie, topped with a black top hat, and carrying an umbrella.
This isn’t the first time Camilla has paid tribute to Elizabeth through her fashion choices.
Before her coronation with Charles in May 2023, she honored both Elizabeth and the late Queen Mother by wearing the iconic Boucheron Honeycomb Tiara and the City of London Fringe Necklace at a State Banquet in Berlin.
Camilla’s coronation attire also featured several pieces from Elizabeth’s collection, including the Robe of State and the Coronation Necklace.
Her coronation dress by Bruce Oldfield was adorned with lilies of the valley, a flower reminiscent of Elizabeth’s coronation bouquet.
During the coronation ceremony, Camilla wore Queen Mary’s Crown, modified to include diamonds from Elizabeth’s collection.
Recently, Camilla wore another of Elizabeth’s brooches, featuring a skull and crossbones design, while visiting the Royal Lancers.
She has often stepped in for Charles at public events during his cancer treatment.
Charles resumed his royal duties in March and appeared alongside Camilla at a cancer treatment center in April.
Buckingham Palace announced that the couple would take over many of Elizabeth’s former patronages.
Charles will become patron of the Royal British Legion and the Dogs Trust charity.
Camilla will oversee the Royal Literary Fund, the Royal Academy of Dance, the Royal Voluntary Service, and serve as president of the Women’s Institute’s Sandringham branch.
