The world of British royalty has been rocked by a new scandal, this time starring a senior courtier to King Charles III.
According to information gathered by several media, one of the closest collaborators of the monarch would have tried to deceive the King.
The monarch is in a particularly delicate moment, in the middle of his treatment against cancer.
King Charles III’s Courtier Scandal
According to the details revealed, David White would have skipped all the judicial procedures established in the Palace to get directly to the King.
This to get the monarch to appoint and hire a friend of his for a position in the College of Arms, a department of the Royal House in charge of heraldic matters and royal ceremonies.
Sources close to the Crown assure that this “cynical” attempt to take advantage of the vulnerability of Charles III.
This action has provoked a great dispute at court, even infuriating one of the monarch’s closest aides.
The King’s private secretary has reportedly been forced to order an “embarrassing reversal of the appointment” that White had attempted to force.
Apparently, White would have ignored one of the main instructions in force in the Palace since Charles III fell ill.
The first rule is: not to disturb the King with professional matters while he is in London receiving treatment for cancer.
However, the courtier seems to have deliberately abused this situation to try to impose his preferred candidate for the position of Secretary of the Order of the Garter.
A source close to the Palace has defined the incident as “a trick from the Middle Ages”, pointing out that the staff closest to the King knew that in these delicate moments, he should be left alone.
“What David may not have realised was that the King was tired. In other words, he was at his most vulnerable, which is why proper procedure exists,” adds the same source.
When contacted by Daily Mail, David White declined to comment.
However, by the end of the conversation, it was clear that the courtier was aware that his actions had been discovered.
A Royal Household source has flatly assured that “such a direct approach to the King should never happen”.
It appears that Michael Vernon, the monarch’s private secretary, has become “furious” at the actions of White, who has become an increasingly controversial figure since taking up his post in 2021.
He was left off the honors list after he forgot to say ‘God save the king’ during the Queen’s funeral, a mistake that reportedly irritated King Charles,” noted the Daily Mail.
