Demi Moore chose a unique inspiration for her appearance at the 2024 Met Gala.
The 61-year-old actress made a grand entrance on May 6, wearing a beautiful gown designed by Harris Reed. This marked her return to the event after a five-year absence.
Her gown, a sleek black column, was adorned with a pink-and-white floral pattern and featured a striking spiked, heart-shaped detail. Adding to her glamour, she accessorized with exquisite diamond jewelry from Cartier.
With her hair styled elegantly and makeup kept subtle, courtesy of Charlotte Tilbury, Moore let her dress steal the show.
During an interview with Ashley Graham on the Vogue red carpet, Moore revealed that her dress was surprisingly lightweight, saying it made her feel like dancing.
The designer, Harris Reed, shared that the gown was crafted from wallpaper. He explained, “It all started with this incredible Cartier necklace that Demi is wearing. It was inspired by the floral feeling it gave me. The whole piece is made out of vintage archival wallpaper. We repurposed it. It’s 11,000 hours of silk embroidery that we’ve repurposed into this idea of her blooming on the carpet. I wanted to be the vines to her thorns.”
Moore added that the flower adorning her gown represents Chloris, the Greek nymph of plants and flowers.
Aside from her stunning appearance at the Met Gala, Moore recently shared a glimpse of her vacation, where she flaunted her figure in a leopard-print bikini, enjoying the sunny weather with her family and friends.
The theme of the 2024 Met Gala, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” aligns with the upcoming Costume Institute exhibit, showcasing approximately 250 items, including historically significant pieces like an 1877 Charles Frederick Worth silk satin ball gown.
According to Andrew Bolton, the curator of the Costume Institute, the exhibition will be organized into three main “zones” — Land, Sea, and Sky — paying homage to the beauty of the natural world.
Moore’s last appearance at the Met Gala was in 2019, wearing a plunging black gown by Saint Laurent and adorned with Harry Winston jewelry. Her absence was notable since her previous attendance was in 2011.
