In his explosive new book “Endgame,” royal expert Omid Scobie details Prince Harry’s intense anger and dismay when he and Meghan Markle were informed they’d have to vacate Frogmore Cottage.
According to Scobie, the move left Harry shocked, prompting an emotional confrontation with his father, now King Charles III.
Discussion between Prince Harry and King Charles revealed
The book recounts how in March 2023, Harry and Meghan were bluntly notified that they had to return the keys to Frogmore, despite the property being a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth.
While the couple no longer works as royals or lives in Britain, Scobie slams the decision as a “cheap shot” from Charles, intended to wound his younger son.
Clearly upset, Harry phoned his father days later and pointedly asked him: “Don’t you want to see your grandchildren?”
By taking away Frogmore as Archie and Lilibet’s safe UK base, Harry implied it would be difficult for them to visit from California. Charles’ “half-hearted” response offered little reassurance.
The move blindsided Harry, who saw the cottage as the only properly secured residence for his family in Britain.
With Harry currently battling in court for UK police protection, Frogmore was key for them to return safely. Its loss deals a bitter blow.
That Charles wanted his disgraced brother Andrew to move into Frogmore added insult to injury.
While Charles denies this, his siblings have urged him to strip working royal status from both Harry and Andrew.
Harry felt betrayed by his father’s actions against his pleading wishes.
Scobie portrays the Frogmore decision as a petty reaction from Charles, bound by the cold restrictions of monarchy.
Their father-son relationship, already strained, now sees Harry branded untrustworthy and their channels of communication are nearly closed. Reconciliation seems doubtful.
