For many, Prince William and Kate Middleton are a solid couple with a beautiful family of three children. However, in 12 years of marriage, the couple has had to endure rumors of infidelity that have circled the globe.
We will try to address everything that is known about the alleged infidelity of Prince William, who has been romantically linked to Rose Hanbury.
Who is Rose Hanbury?
Rose Hanbury is the Marchioness of Cholmondeley and a member of the English nobility. She is the wife of David Rocksavage, Marquess of Cholmondeley, and a descendant of one of the most important aristocratic families in the United Kingdom. The Marchioness has had close ties with the royal family since she was born.
The Marquesses live at Houghton Hall, a huge mansion close to the country home of the Prince and Princess of Wales, just 3 miles away in Norfolk. Rose and Kate share a job, both are patron and royal patron respectively of the East Anglia Children’s Hospices charity.
When did the rumor of the Prince William affair start?
In 2019, it was the first time that former model Rose Hanbury was linked to Prince William. It all started when some photos of the Prince of Wales in a bar and in a compromising attitude were disseminated.
The media immediately suggested that the future king of England was probably being unfaithful to his wife Kate Middleton when she was pregnant with their third child, Prince Louis.
For royals, dealing with such rumors is always a delicate problem because ignoring them risks amplifying them, but talking about them risks giving legitimacy to the rumor.
Rumors that Rose Hanbury was Prince William’s mistress intensified when, later that year, The Sun newspaper reported that the friendship between Rose and Kate had ended, fueling speculation about the possible cause of the feud.
It had been said that the two women had had a “terrible” fight; and that Kate wanted her “rural rival” to be “eliminated” from her circle.
William was supposedly the peacemaker between the two women, due to his friendship with Rose’s aristocratic husband David, the Marquess of Cholmondeley.
Kate Middleton was said to have seriously considered taking legal action for a false story about her quarrel with her Norfolk neighbor Rose Hanbury.
It should be noted that Rose attended with her husband the funeral of Prince Philip and the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
The resurgence of the story of Prince William’s mistress
In 2022, the story of Prince William’s alleged infidelity resurfaces and the words ‘Prince William Affair’ went viral on social media.
In February 2023, rumors of infidelity increased when Kate herself assured, during one of her royal duties, that she did not expect any details from William for Valentine’s Day.
“I don’t think I do,” the princess replied to a florist who asked if William would buy her flowers, this happened during her official visit to Kirkgate market.
“Music Mundial’s fake news”
The American and sensationalist media called ‘Music Mundial’, was the one who spread the rumor that Prince William had spent Valentine’s Day with his alleged lover and that he had even given her a necklace, the information came to light without any proof or source to back it up.
Many media echoed the news and it was published in different portals.
The mentioned portal claimed that its sources were British tabloids such as The Sun, The Daily Mail, or The Mirror, but in those portals, there is no trace of that false news.
Tabloids from Spain and the American continent began to report that the son of King Charles would be willing to do anything for a former model with whom he was supposedly very much in love. It was also said that the Prince of Wales and his wife, Kate Middleton, were increasingly separated.
The royal chronicler Richard Kay qualified this rumor as fake news:
“It is false that it was censored because it was not published. No one, except an American page that we do not know, and that did not provide the slightest proof and did not even cite sources,”.
Since then the rumor that Prince William and Rose Hanbury are lovers has died down, although some websites continue to generate hits with the story.
