Recent images of Princess Leonor during a stopover in Salvador de Bahia have unleashed a wave of comments and speculation in the media.
As we have already reported here at RoyalFamily.News, in the photographs, the heiress appears enjoying Carnival with her companions from the training ship Elcano, but what has drawn the most attention is the presence of a young midshipman that many are already pointing to as her possible partner.
Does Leonor have a boyfriend?
The treatment of the news in Spain has followed a familiar pattern: while some media have avoided the topic altogether, others have decided to give it great prominence.
In this context, Hola magazine, known for its closeness to the Royal House, has published a version that seems to be aligned with Zarzuela’s official position, as reported by the Catalan website El Nacional.
According to the publication, the images were taken by Brazilian photographers during a popular local party and, although the princess was captured next to this young man, it is categorically denied that there is any photograph in which the two appear kissing.
“No kiss, no nothing. It’s a lie,” says the magazine citing close sources.
In addition, they explain that, upon noticing the presence of photographers, Leonor’s companions surrounded her to protect her, which would have generated a visual misunderstanding.
According to this version, the image that some interpreted as a kiss would be nothing more than an optical effect caused by the midshipmen’s attempt to protect the privacy of the princess.
What the magazine does not deny at any time is the closeness between Leonor and her companion.
Although it is not explicitly stated that the young man is her boyfriend, it is not denied either.
What is stressed is that the princess strictly follows the rules of behavior imposed by the Royal House, avoiding any display of affection in public.
“Scenes of love, or simply of affection, are forbidden,” the media outlet points out, stressing that Leonor and her sister Sofia are very clear that any gesture can be caught on camera and go viral in a matter of hours.
For the portal El Nacional, critical of the royals, this episode is reminiscent of the media strategy used on other occasions: minimize the impact without completely denying the information.
Although the Royal Household seems determined to preserve the institutional image of the heiress, the alleged photos of Leonor’s kiss have generated an inevitable question: does Leonor have a boyfriend?
