Actor Dominic West, known for his role as Prince Charles in The Crown, recently opened up about his adventures on a charity trek to the South Pole with Prince Harry back in 2014.
While Dominic had plenty of kind words about Harry’s charismatic leadership during the trip, he also shared some cheeky anecdotes that revealed the royal’s wild side – and led to an eventual estrangement between the two.
Dominic West and Prince Harry
During a recent interview, Dominic recalled how the group celebrated reaching the South Pole with Harry enthusiastically drinking champagne from double-amputee Duncan Slater’s prosthetic leg.
He also mentioned Harry building “lavish latrines” at their meeting points, joking that using them felt like “a royal flush.”
But the most shocking tales came when Dominic opened up about the trip’s wilder nights of revelry.
He claimed that two members of the Australian military team “stripped naked and ran round the pole” at one point.
Meanwhile, Harry bonded with some Icelandic truck drivers over their “lethal home brew,” with Dominic asserting that the Prince was at the “heart of the fun.”
In fact, Dominic shared that Harry told some particularly “eye-wateringly rude jokes” that shocked the non-military members of the group.
While he made it clear Harry was still focused on the trip’s charitable goals, the actor’s candid revelations about drunken escapades and raunchy humor made it easy to see why the royal would be upset.
As Dominic bluntly admitted, “We sort of [lost touch] because I said too much in a press conference, and so we didn’t speak after that.”
Though the trip created plenty of laughs and camaraderie at the time, Dominic’s loose lips clearly went too far for Prince Harry’s comfort.
Their once-strong friendship dissolved shortly after the actor’s very public disclosures about the royal’s wild side.
