Despite a grey and rainy day in London, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, brought a touch of sunshine to the Trooping the Colour event with her vibrant outfit.
Dressed in a striking yellow gown by one of her preferred designers, Sophie’s choice was nothing short of a statement of timeless elegance.
Duchess of Edinburgh’s style at Trooping the Colour
The Duchess, previously known as the Countess of Wessex, donned the Yahvi Lemon Dress by British designer Beulah.
This dress, still available for purchase at US$950, features long sleeves, a tailored bodice, and a full skirt adorned with covered buttons.
To complete her look, Sophie chose the Persephone hat in yellow, crafted by the well-known milliner Jane Taylor, priced at US$2,000.
Sophie’s ensemble was beautifully coordinated with her daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, who wore a charming floral dress.
Celebrity stylist and royal fashion expert Lynne McKenna remarked, “The duo’s coordinated and thoughtful fashion choices not only brightened the event but also showcased their commitment to sustainability and timeless elegance.”
The Duchess seems to favor this style, as she has worn the dress in various colors on different occasions.
Last year, she chose a cream version for a visit with the President and First Lady of Iraq. Earlier this year, she recreated the iconic Beatles Abbey Road shot in a bright coral version of the dress.
Described on the Beulah website as “a beautiful choice for summer events,” this 100% wool dress features midi-length flared sleeves, a fitted bodice, and a full skirt, making it a perfect pick for such a grand occasion.
Joining her husband and daughter, Sophie stood alongside the Royal Family on Buckingham Palace’s balcony to watch the traditional military flypast, positioned next to Queen Camilla to take in the impressive aerial display.
