An evening of royalty, the likes of which has not been seen in a long time, unfolds tonight with the first state dinner of the year.
Although the illness of King Charles and that of Kate Middleton have hogged the spotlight, the splendor of the state visits has not been put on the back burner.
Months later, the British royal family is gradually getting back to normal, and that was evident during the official visit of Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, who began their state visit in England.
State Dinner for the Emperor of Japan
The State Dinner in honor of the Emperor of Japan took place on the evening of June 25.
Members of the royal family attended the state banquet marking a significant moment in diplomatic relations.
Queen Camilla, 76, dazzled in the Burmese ruby tiara, wearing it with an elegant white dress.
The tiara, which made its debut in November 2023 during the state banquet honoring ROK President Yoon Suk Yeo, was created by jeweler Garrard.
It is adorned with diamonds and rubies, which were a wedding gift to the late Queen Elizabeth.
In addition to the tiara, Queen Camilla wore a new accessory: the Order of the Family of King Charles.
Prince William, Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, also attended the event, representing the royal family at this important evening.
However, the most notable absence was that of Kate Middleton. The 42-year-old Princess of Wales usually plays a crucial role in organizing state visits, but is currently staying away due to her cancer treatment.
On the other hand, Princess Anne was also unable to attend the banquet due to her hospitalization.
King Charles’ sister suffered a concussion and minor injuries, likely caused by a possible horse strike at her Gatcombe Park residence on June 23.
As reported by The Telegraph, the Princess Royal is experiencing memory loss related to the incident, although it is believed to be temporary.
