    Although 25 years have passed since her death, Princess Diana remains a worldwide icon. Her entire life as a member of the British royal family arouses fascination, which is why here we compile a list of little-known facts about the ever-loved Lady Di.

    Diana Spencer, also known as Lady Di, mother of Princes William and Harry, definitely lived an unusual life, which is why she won the affection of the world.

    She was home-schooled until she was 9 years old

    Diana, being the daughter of Earl Spencer, it was considered “normal” for children from aristocratic families to be educated at home. Princess Diana’s academic preparation lasted until the age of 9 when she began attending a school in Norfolk and at the age of 12 she was sent to West Heath School boarding school.

    She was the fourth of five siblings

    The marriage between Frances Shand Kydd and Edward John Spencer, had five children, Diana was the fourth of the Spencer dynasty.

    Lady Di, had two sisters Sarah, better known as Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Jane, now called Lady Jane Fellowes; and a younger brother Charles, who took over as Earl Spencer after the death of his father. Her other brother, John, died hours after her birth in 1960.

    She was a preschool teacher

    After finishing her studies in Sweden, Diana got a job at Young England School. When she started dating Prince Charles, a photographer went to look for her at work. Since then, the Princess Diana phenomenon began.

    She wanted to be a dancer

    When she was a child Lady Di took ballet lessons, however, her height prevented her from excelling in this discipline because she was too tall to become a professional. When she became the wife of Prince Charles, she supported the National Dance Company of England.

    How she became a ‘Lady

    Princess Diana was born on July 1, 1961, however at birth she did not directly obtain the title of ‘Lady’. It was, until 1975 when she could be labeled as such after her father inherited the title of Earl Spencer.

    Before Charles met his future wife, he was romantically linked to Sarah Spencer, sister of the princess.

    She did not like going to Buckingham Palace.

    As a child Diana did not like to visit Buckingham Palace. Recall that her father was Earl of Spencer, so her family had a relationship with the British crown.

    His grandmother was maid of honor to the Queen Mother.

    The relationship between the Royal Family and the Spencers goes far beyond the marriage between Diana and Prince Charles. One of the most prominent relationships was that of Ruth Roche, Baroness de Fermoy and maternal grandmother of the Princess of Wales, with Queen Elizabeth. She was her maid of honor and a close friend of the Crown.

    The train of the wedding dress was the longest in the history of royalty.

    Princess Diana had to practice in the long, heavy gown before walking down the aisle. The seven-meter train, was a wedding dress made of satin taffeta, lace imported from France, and 10,000 pearls.

    She wore flats on her wedding day

    As for her footwear, Princess Diana did not wear stilettos like Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle did, instead, she wore flats worthy of a princess. Made entirely to her specifications, with hand-strokes on the soles, pearls, satin and lace; couturier Clive Shilton created two identical models: the one she wore for walking and a spare one for any unforeseen events that might arise.

    Her favorite designer was Catherine Walker

    It is clear that Princess Diana was, and to this day is, one of the greatest fashion icons. However, few know that much of her style and most outstanding looks came from her favorite couturier Catherine Walker, who designed her most acclaimed outfits that have framed the fashion world for decades.

    Her favorite color was pink

    She was the first in the Royal Family to give birth in a hospital.

    The Princess of Wales was the first to break with a strong tradition in the British royal household. In 1982, Diana gave birth to her firstborn son William at St. Mary’s Hospital. Thus becoming the first heir to be born outside the Royal House.
